One of the most commonly asked questions by math HSC students… “Miss/Sir, are year 11 topics going to be in the HSC?” The answer is a big, fat YES.
The content that is assessed in the HSC examination covers all preliminary topic as well as HSC topics.
Through tutoring some of my own students it has been brought to my attention that when students pick up a pencil to study for mathematics in the HSC, they forget all the skills and content they learnt the pervious year.
Topics explored through year 11 are just as vital as HSC content, as these topics are fundamental to mathematics and allow students to build relevant skills and knowledge that they need to ace HSC questions.
To address this common issue, I have put together a video on the preliminary topic of shading inequations. In my opinion, this skill is one of the most forgotten and although is not present in every exam, is still an essential skill that should be stored in the subconscious of all HSC mathematics students.
